Western Potash Corp. Reports Results From Fifth Exploration Well on the Russell-Miniota Property and Start of Drilling on QP-168/172
Western Potash Corp. (the “Company”) (TSX.V: WPX, FSE: AHE) is pleased to announce that it has received results from its fifth potash exploration well drilled within the Russell-Miniota exploration permit in Manitoba. These Permits cover over 1,000 square kilometers, are adjacent to BHP Billiton’s Potash Lease and Agrium’s Exploration Permits along the Manitoba border, and lie within 13km of Saskatchewan Potash Corp.’s Rocanville potash mine. All drill intercepts noted in this release can be considered the true thickness of the mineralization, as the salt beds are flat lying and the holes were drilled vertically.
The fifth hole intersected the Prairie Evaporite at a depth of 890.5m and encountered potash mineralization grading 20.88 wt% over a 3.6m interval from 891.1m to 894.7m. The best interval reported was from 892.3m to 892.9m (0.6m) returning 34.8 wt% K2O. A detailed summary of the results from this hole are shown in Table 1.
These results represent the best grade intersections obtained by the Company from the property to date, and compare favorably with historic drilling in the area, which intersected potash mineralized zones with grades up to 20% K2O over 3.7m interpreted from gamma ray logs. The Company is encouraged by these results, as the geological setting and mineralization are consistent with characteristics of other potash deposits in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Continuing Drill Program
The Company is also pleased to announce that drilling of its sixth potash exploration well has commenced. The current well (NW-20-14-28-W) was collared approx 30 km south of the first five wells drilled recently by the company, and is about 30km SE of Potash Corp’s Rocanville mine. The company is expanding its Phase I evaluation drill program with five additional wells planned on the southern portion of QP-168, and the recently acquired QP-172 potash permit property holdings. The expanded drill program will target potash sequences identified from the Company’s 2008 2D seismic program completed in August, as well as, from extensive historical data acquired by the Company in anticipation of the granting of the permit. Historic drilling in the area intersected potash mineralization in three wells, encountering grades and intersections up to 19.4% K2O over 2.94m.

Note: Table 1 reports all K2O assays above 5% cut-off. The MgO% is shown as an indicator of Carnallite, The core recovered from this hole was logged, photographed, split, and sampled at the Company’s secure core storage facility on the property. All samples were handled in accordance with the Company’s Chain of Custody procedures. The half-split core samples from the well were analyzed at the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) Laboratory in Saskatoon. The Laboratory has been certified by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to conform to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (CAN-P-4E).
